In Argentina, Lithium Americas has partnered with Ganfeng Lithium on the Caucharí-Olaroz project, advancing towards first production as the largest new brine operation in over 20 years. Caucharí-Olaroz is targeting low-cost production of 40,000 tonnes per annum of battery-quality lithium carbonate over 40 years, with development planning for Stage 2 expansion of at least an additional 20,000 tpa underway. The 100%-owned Pastos Grandes project, also located in Argentina’s lithium triangle and in proximity to Cauchaí-Olaroz, represents regional growth opportunities.
The Thacker Pass project in northern Nevada, the largest-known lithium resource in the US, has received its Record of Decision from the Bureau of Land Management and is targeting Phase 1 production capacity of 40,000 tonnes per annum. The Company is working on a Feasibility Study and continues to evaluate partnership and financing opportunities for Thacker Pass to advance and de-risk the project.
Lithium Americas is targeting low carbon operations and to exceed environmental regulations at every project.
