Company Synopsis

Heraeus Noblelight manufactures UV curing and infrared (IR) heating technology for battery manufacturing processes. Our IR customized solutions provide efficient and precise heating, and support multiple processes along cell manufacturing: electrode slurry drying, pre-calendering drying, and vacuum drying.

Our UV curing systems, both microwave-powered and LED, cure slurry paste, polymer electrodes, adhesives for bonding and sealing/gasketing, and coatings on films, battery cells and packs/modules. Both IR and UV produce higher quality parts and increase production while delivering design flexibility and sustainable manufacturing. Testing shows that hybrid curing, using IR and UV in combination, can speed production rates even further.

Our global presence and applications testing capabilities and expertise provide support for process development to end users, machine builders, line integrators and chemistry formulators.

Featured Products

• LightHammer® Series UV Curing Systems – Modular systems incorporating solid-state power supplies and internal sensors to monitor real-time system performance – reduces downtime and operating costs, provides simple and flexible control schemes. • Semray® UV4000 Series UV LED Curing System – Modular system with high intensity and uniformity, even at large working distance, provides process flexibility with LED benefits - lower energy costs, long life, etc. • Infrared – customized infrared solutions using carbon medium wave or short-wave infrared emitters for anode drying, with practice-proven value for customers: line speed increase by up to 50%; tackled common production challenges such as binder segregation, reduced energy consumption. Our flexible IR solutions also support pre-calendering drying, vacuum drying. • Customized infrared modules & systems – suitable for explosive environments such as cathode electrode manufacturing to accelerate line speed and avoid slurry cracks.
